The Nigeria Academy of Pharmacy exists to advance the frontiers of pharmaceutical knowledge, promote excellence in practice, and strengthen the role of pharmacy in national development and human well-being. NAPharm

Our Story

Founded on June 26, 2014, the Nigeria Academy of Pharmacy (NAPharm) is a prestigious assembly of seasoned pharmacists committed to elevating the standards of pharmaceutical education, research, and practice across Nigeria.

In response to Nigeria’s evolving healthcare challenges—especially in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic—NAPharm has taken bold steps to reposition the pharmacy profession as a pillar of national health resilience.

  • Pioneering the Clinical Pharmacy curriculum in Nigerian universities, bridging academic training with real-world patient care.

  • Establishing the Olu Akinkugbe Research and Innovation Centre (OARIC) to promote indigenous pharmaceutical innovation and policy-focused research.

  • Driving healthcare policy reform, including active engagement with government stakeholders to enhance drug security, regulatory efficiency, and local drug manufacturing..

  • Hosting the landmark 2022 “Repositioning Pharmacy” Retreat, which produced strategic recommendations now shaping pharmacy practice nationwide
